The Sea Organ ( orgulje morske ) is built on the banks of the city of Zadar , Croatia , considered one of the most beautiful in the world . One of the three pipe organs that exist on the planet , who are touched by the sea. When entering and leaving the air holes , it causes movement of the air inside the body and produces sound.
The installation not only attracts people because, unusually for this area Zadar channel has been visited by in love humpback whales, which often matched in the Pacific. An oceanographer explained that the sound of the organ is a "true aphrodisiac for whales " because " its tone is similar to that emitted by whales mating ."
It measures 75 m long, has 35 separate each 1.5 meters and with whistle openings tuned pipes. Depending on the size of the tubes and air speed , alter the inside of the tubes as if it were a large flutes. The concept was developed by Peter Richards and installed in collaboration with master sculptor George Gonzales . The inspiration for this construction comes from the recordings performing artist Bill Fontana sounds emanating from a vent pipe of a concrete pier in Sydney. The pier on which this sound sculpture stands is built with materials of a demolished cemetery by providing a variety of carved granite and marble placed randomly . The facility has 25 PVC pipes and concrete at different heights , allowing the rise and fall of the tides.
